Metflex for Balconies, Bridges, Walkways and Stadiums

 

Fender & Gower Stand, The Oval,

Problem

The stands had deteriorated over the years to such an extent that the surface had become uneven and was allowing water to pass through the stand and into the changing rooms beneath.

Solution

After local renovation to the surfaces to improve its outward profile and surface finish using MESET 15 cementitious mortar, “Metflex”, colour grey was applied at an average thickness of 1.5mm.

Result

An instant hard wearing, water proof, oil resistant, impermeable, aesthetically pleasing membrane, that enabled the replacement of seating etc. almost immediately after spraying had finished.


South Gosforth Metro Station Pedestrian Ramp

Client: Nexus - Tyne & Wear Transport, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Problem

The pedestrian ramp accessing the metro underground had weathered and deteriorated over the years, which resulted in an unsightly appearance but, more important the surface was slippery under foot, especially in wet weather, which made it unsafe for pedestrian traffic.

Solution

Blastrack surface area to be treated to clean and prepare substrate. Spray apply “Metflex” Elastomeric Coating incorporating flint aggregate to provide a weatherproof, slip resistant coating

Result

One of the benefits of using “Metflex” on this project was the instant traffickability (can be walked on within 2 minutes). This allowed for the ramp to be opened with the minimum of delay, resulting in reduced disruption.


Pedestrian Footbridge Over Railway, Bridlington

Client: East Riding of Yorkshire County Council.

Problem

The pedestrian area including the bridge deck, stair treads, and landings on the footbridge had weathered and deteriorated over the years, which resulted in an unsightly appearance but, more important the surface was slippery under foot, especially in wet weather, which made it unsafe for pedestrian traffic.

Solution

Grind and grit blast surface area to be treated to clean and prepare substrate. Spray apply nominal 1.5mm thickness “Metflex” Elastomeric Coating incorporating aggregate to provide a weatherproof, slip resistant coating.

Result

One of the benefits of using “Metflex” on this project was the instant traffickability (can be walked on within 2 minutes). This allowed for the bridge to be opened with the minimum of delay, resulting in reduced disruption.


Balcony Areas

Client: London Borough of Hillingdon

Problem

The balcony and two flights of stairs were in a state of deterioration and as a result had lost its ability to prevent water ingress and also was considered a danger due to its slippery surface.

Solution

Spray apply “Metflex” Cold Applied Membrane to an average thickness of 1.5mm incorporating a fine black quartz aggregate to promote slip resistance and maintain a aesthetically pleasing finish.

Result

An instant hard wearing, waterproof, easily cleaned, slip resistant membrane that was returned back to service within 1 hour of application.


Balcony walkways to office/flats over Hemlington Shopping Centre

Client: Middlesbrough Borough Council

Problem

The GRC Promenade Tiles had become slippery with age and the asphalt waterproofing under had become porous and was leaking

Solution

The Promenade tiles were cleaned & prepared and any loose ones were repaired. Metflex was spray and squeegee applied to level surface up and produce a waterproof slip resistant surface in different colours to different areas.


Balcony area over Doctors Surgery

Client: Abingdon Borough Council

Problem

The surface to the Balcony was suffering severe problems and heavily leaking water through

Solution

Remove all unsound coatings by scabbling. Squeegee apply Metflex to form a waterproof skid resistant & highly attractive finish
