Eliminating water contamination
Project: Craigie reservoir roof
Client: North of Scotland Water Authority.
Problem
The Reservoir roof was allowing water and residues from animal
droppings through into the underground reservoir, thus contaminating the
water.
Solution
Spray-apply Metflex multi-purpose, elastomeric coating to a thickness
of 1.5 mm totally waterproofing the roof. An environmentally friendly
grass green colour was chosen to merge the reservoir into the surrounding
landscape
Result
An instant hard wearing, water proof, oil resistant, impermeable
coating that is aesthetically pleasing to the surrounding environment and
enabled return to service immediately after spraying.
The full treatment for the works
Project: Primary and dosing chamber tanks, Sewage Treatment Works,
Slingsby,
North Yorkshire.
Client: Northumbrian Water Ltd.
Problem
Primary and dosing chamber tanks of a brick construction had
deteriorated with age causing major leaking
Solution
Grit blast all surfaces, to clean and prepare substrate. Repair missing
/ defective render with Tapecrete cementitious mortar. Spray-apply Metflex
multi purpose, elastomeric coating to a thickness of 1.5 mm in a
selected brown colour .
Result
A durable waterproof lining which completely resolved the leakage
problem.
Treated in less than 8 hours
Project: Sewage treatment tank, Little Kildale, North Yorkshire.
Client: Northumbrian Water Ltd.
Problem
Brick constructed sewage treatment tank was showing signs of
deterioration through age and was leaking. Most joints were missing and
large holes were evident.
Solution
Clean the inner surface of the tank by power wash. Mechanically fix
geotextile to the inner surfaces of the tank. Spray-apply Metflex
elastomeric coating to a nominal thickness of 1.5 mm.
Result
An instant waterproof lining solving the leakage problem. Duration of
works and return to service within 8 Hours.
Short downtime for long canal
Project: Brecon - Monmouth Canal, Abergervenny.
Client: British Waterways.
Problem
Deterioration and spalling of existing concrete surface on the canal
floor and walls had led to significant water loss from the canal. The
Welsh Water Authority wanted to minimise closure time for each section of
canal and also implement a long term solution with minimum maintenance.
Solution
Spray apply Metflex elastomeric membrane to nominally 1.5 mm
thickness to provide an abrasion-resistant, hard-wearing, low maintenance,
flexible waterproof lining to the canal.
Result
Fully waterproof lining to canal sections which were able to be
re-opened immediately after spraying had finished.
Preventative application of a proven approach
Project: Ugthorpe reservoir roof.
Client: Yorkshire Water Plc.
Problem
Similar structures had suffered from problems of water contamination
due to water and residues from animal droppings seeping through into
underground reservoirs. This newly constructed reservoir roof was thus
deemed to require a proven preventative treatment to eliminate the
potential for such problems.
Solution
The reservoir roof was sprayed with Metflex elastomeric coating to a
thickness of 1.5 mm to seal and totally waterproofing the roof.
Result
An instant, hard-wearing, waterproof, oil-resistant, and impervious
membrane that was returned to service immediately after spraying. Surface
finishing to meet environmental requirements involved a dolomite overlay
prior to back-filling with soil.
