CBR Penetration Tests Incorporating Geotextile Membrane
60 Tonne loading maintained for 100 Hrs test to push 16-22mm granite angular chippings through Membrane - weakening of surface but no penetration through Membrane thickness 3.2mm.
100 Tonne loading maintained for 100 Hrs. test to push 20mm rounded gravel through Membrane thickness 2.7 mm. Weakening of Membrane, slight puncturing.
These Tests were conducted on unprotected Metflex 120. The introduction of a protection layer of sand / protection Membrane or increasing the thickness of the Metflex, would give a marked increase in performance.
